I suppose they had never been able to procure any of the legendary gold beneath the falls of Skógarfoss, but they evidently manage to screw a tolerable amount out of travellers who come to admire its beauties. The day was half spent before we were again on our way so we rode briskly to Skógarfoss, one of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls in Iceland, where there is a very good farm, and the people are extremely thrifty. After taking two hours’ sleep, we pushed on to Holt, which we reached about 1 P.M. Here we took coffee, and next proceeded to Breiða-bólstaðr, where, as usual, we were received with great kindness and hospitality. We stopped between the rivers East and West Rángá, where we had to pay for one of the horses we were riding, for Paul had only brought it with him to Reykjavík on sale or return. and we had a good view of Mount Hekla as we forded the West Rángá. Umph! he says, 5,000 square miles of uninhabited country, a howling wilderness, nothing but volcanoes, ice, and snow-a man must be a fool to want to go there no one ever has crossed this cold, desolate region, why, in the name of everything that is worth pounds, shillings, and pence, should any one be mad enough to want to do so now? I fancy I can see some of my worthy countrymen at ten o’clock in the morning, clad in dressing-gown and slippers, breakfast half finished, and a copy of some journal that has condescended to take notice of my little expedition in his hand. Iceland again! Reykjavík again! Here I am upon the same errand as in 18-foolhardiness and folly as it is denounced by some at home. The full book is available on Project Gutenberg. This is from an 1876 book by William Lord Watts, on an expedition (possibly the first) to hike across Vatnajökull. My anon-voice is representative of the smaller-fish in this fight at the end of the day, you answer to no-one but yourself. I count myself fairly lucky as I was able to withdraw most of my BTC before the pause, and as the cookie's crumbled, it looks like I won't be subjected to retail clawbacks, with a relatively easy way out.īe honest - are others also looking to opt for the convenience class, even if your claim is >$5,000? The overall sentiment expressed from some of the more prominent talking-heads in the space are looking at NovaWulf's plan as either fairly "Meh" to downright opposed to it, but that's pretty much only because they withdrew far more than I did, with claims much higher than mine. This is not even taking into account the fact that now we can/should file claims in Stretto including asserting allegations of fraud and/or negligence and/or misrepresentation ( NFA!), whereby we stand to benefit from any future criminal proceedings against Alex et al. I could better explain the rationale/math behind this, however I'd rather not run the risk of doxing myself. Granted, my crypto assets in Celsius are weighted differently, so dropping down from ~$6K to $5K, then getting 70% back actually drops my BTC claim to 54% total recovery (since BTC only accounts for less than a third of my claim).but I think we can all agree, anything >50% represents a win. IMHO, dropping down to the $5K convenience class and getting 70% of my assets back *in liquid crypto* - and being done with this nightmare - sounds just peachy to me. ![]() NGL, the NovaWulf plan (as it is currently) stands to benefit me pretty well I withdrew in the low five-digits in the 90 day prepetition date (so within the $100K withdrawal retail clawback threshold), and - for the life of me, I don't know why I didn't work this out until literally yesterday - my digital asset claim is only just over $6K. I wanted to share my situation to vent/see if others agree/disagree, and generally wanted to see where others stand. The last year or so has been a royal rollercoaster ride, as I'm sure you will all agree.
